Dead Heats occur when runners finish exactly at the same time with nothing separating them, which can lead to two different scenarios:
- Win Bets: Total winnings are split among the number of dead heat runners
- Place Bets: Place bets will always pay out a set number of runners
If your place bet pays out four runners, and there are two runners with a Dead Heat for second place, one of which is your selection, you get the full amount.
If, however, the Dead Heat is between two runners for fourth, your winnings are split between the runners.
